A Weekly AI Scorecard Any Owner Can Run in 15 Minutes
If you cannot measure your AI usage, you cannot manage it. Most small teams know they are using AI more, but cannot prove if it is actually improving outcomes.
A 15-minute weekly scorecard solves that.
Track only four numbers¶
Keep this simple and consistent.
- Time saved: hours saved this week.
- Response speed: average time to first customer reply.
- Error rate: AI outputs that needed rework.
- Tasks completed: meaningful tasks finished with AI support.
If you track more than this in week one, you will likely stop tracking.
The 15-minute weekly review¶
Run this on the same day each week.
- minute 1-5: capture the four numbers
- minute 6-10: note what improved and what slipped
- minute 11-15: choose one adjustment for next week
Examples of one adjustment:
- add approval check on customer-facing messages
- standardize one prompt template
- stop using AI for a low-value task
What "good" looks like¶
You are looking for trend direction, not perfect data.
- time saved goes up
- response speed gets faster
- error rate stays stable or falls
- completed tasks increase without quality drop
If speed improves but error rate spikes, that is not progress.
SMB example: managed IT provider¶
A small provider tracked the scorecard for six weeks. Response time dropped from 3 hours to 55 minutes, but error rate rose in week two. They added a review step for quote emails and error rate dropped the next week.
The scorecard made the tradeoff visible before it became a customer issue.
Keep the scorecard operational¶
Treat scorecard updates as an owner routine, not a one-time experiment. Weekly review discipline is what turns AI usage into a business system.
